Adulting 101

As likely many people in my life will attest to, I’m a list person. I see lists as tools to work through problems, prioritize goals, stay organized, and at their best, manage anxiety.

My oldest child is turning 18 this week, and while watching my children grow has been the greatest privilege of my life and I embrace every milestone with enthusiasm, I found myself turning to list making to both work through some complicated feelings as my child officially becomes an adult as well as provide him with some concrete steps for successful adulting. I also asked several parents of young adults, “What would you add to a welcome to adulthood list?” I got so many great tidbits of advice and compiled them in order to share with him as well as with anyone else who might be interested:
